Find your place in the world

Queens College in Charlotte, NC announced in April that it is now going to offer an online MBA program, with classes to start in the fall of 2014.

The online program, offered by Queen’s McColl School of Business, will utilize team based learning, personalized mentors and plenty of feedback from both professors and peers. It also will provide students with one-on-one sessions with a personal executive coach, guidance from an alumni mentor on a regular basis, and leadership feedback from instructors and peers.

The core business curriculum is robust and  focuses on the following topics:

  • Organizational behavior
  • Leadership development
  • Global perspectives and analytics

Students have two concentrations from which to choose: health care (one of the highest paying specialities) and leadership. The former looks at essential business functions in clinics, hospitals, insurance companies and other health care facilities. The latter gives students an up-close view of what it takes to efficiently operate a business at the executive level. Studies in strategic thinking ethics and core governance are explored.

Face Time With Coaches and Mentors

A unique aspect of this online MBA program is the amount of one-on-one time with executives, faculty and fellow students in two separate residences on campus. The first occurs before classes start, and includes a panel discussion Queens’ Executives in Residence.

The second residency happens halfway through the MBA program, and focuses on professional development of every student. Each student receives a customized, 360 degree report, assessments of leadership skills, executive coaching classes, and a keynote address from a top business executive.

Guest speakers of the MBA program, including chairmen, entrepreneurs, consultants and CEOs, will share insights over the three year program about what causes organizational success and failure. Queens MBA students will leave the program with very valuable, hands on information that can be used to improve their leadership skills and move up the corporate ladder.

Scholarships are available, and aspiring students also can apply for outside scholarships to pay for their education.

Accreditation

The McColl School of Business is fully accredited by AACSB International, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. This is the top international accrediting agency for degree programs in business administration.
