At Florida International University College of Business, students are admitted in both spring and fall. This spring, the business school set a record for enrollment that topped all previous springs. Over 390 people have opted to enroll in the university’s business programs for working professionals. This includes online programs, on campus programs and also a format that is a combination of online learning and regular classroom learning with both classmates and faculty. See FIU’s #1 Ranking of Online MBA programs.

One program that has been particularly successful was the launch of the next executive MBA program. This program has been totally revamped and focuses specifically on experiential exercises that are designed around projects, case studies and dialogues.

There are two different versions of the Master of Science in HR Management program that are also very popular. This program has both online portions and fully online portions. It was first offered in the fall 2012 term. The college is now offering all of these new programs online, onsite or a mixture, but also is delivering them at its new downtown campus on Brickell, and also at the FIU Broward Pines Center, as well as the Modesto A. Maidique Campus.

On Jan 4, 2013, these graduate program started for the semester with an orientation session that was attended by about 250 of the students . There were breakout sessions for each program. This allowed all of the MBA and other types of students to meet their faculty and their classmates. They also had a chance to learn about the many services that are available at the university.

Other graduate programs that started this semester include the Corporate MBA program, the Healthcare MBA, Master of Accounting, Master of International Business, Master of Science in Finance, Master of Science in Management Information  Systems, and the Professional MBA.

In other MBA news, Bloomberg Businessweek recently ranked MIT as the second best program in entrepreneurship, and Babson College was ranked #3.  At the very top of the list was Stanford University. At that school, MBAs can partner with some alumni to begin businesses through the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at the school.

MIT has over 50 classes for entrepreneurs. MBAs who study at that school can be involved in the school’s $100,000 Entrepreneurship program. They can win as much as $50,000 for their business.

According to Bloomberg, the ranking system for these MBA programs was based upon responses of students to questions about ranking the entrepreneurship MBA program at their school. Points were given for every response, with one point given for ‘poor’ and six points for ‘outstanding.’ The responses were then averaged for each school. According to this survey, the top MBA programs for entrepreneurship were Stanford, MIT, Babson, UC Berkeley, Chicago Booth, Carnegie Mellon, Imperial College, UCLA, and Texas McCombs.

Entrepreneurship MBA is always a popular specialization, and has been becoming more popular in recent years. Other popular specializations include health care and IT.
